So many people worked so hard...and a house came together.
Cut out a window......
Bring in the dignitaries and a Habitat family...they cut the ribbon and everyone knows a young family's dream will soon come true.
Habitat for Humanity (habitat.org) has always been one of our favorite organizations. Now after this experience, it has become even dearer to our hearts. And we now appreciate the process so much more. The homes are not given away. Working families buy the homes at 0% interest mortgages provided by the organization. Each of the adult future homeowners are required to work 300 hours on the construction. It's a good formula....instills pride of ownership and lots of sweat equity to make the dream for their family come to pass.
Last Night on the Strip
We still hadn't seen the Bellagio fountains at night or been to "Paris". Started at Paris (parislasvegas.com). They've done the street scene thing like the other "destination" hotels. Quite attractive. However, their slots were highly uncooperative! Looked around for a dinner spot and unfortunately chose Le Burger Brasserie...big mistake! Imagine a burger bistro that can't make an edible slider...that's this place!
Got out of there quickly and told Rick I had a feeling if we were going to win anything tonight, it would be at the craps table. And we did....erased our slots loss, paid for the bad burgers with a little bit left over....the best part is we played for probably over an hour...good entertainment.
Ran across the street to see the Bellagio show...it's even more stunning at night.
It's nearing midnight and we hadn't been on the Strip this late before. Must say there are some entertaining sights out there. Las Vegas is certainly not a "family friendly" place anymore like they tried to reposition themselves a few years back. Keep the kids at home! This is definitely an adult playground again.
Will spend tomorrow gearing up to move after a month. Really looking forward to moving on....we need to get back to the adventure!
